About
The Carnival Weekend
The
Carnival Weekend in 2009 will develop and build on the two recent
carnivals in Redhill. The first was in 2002 and the most recent, last
year (2007). The Carnival Weekends have always been more than just a
parade, with a range of activities on the Saturday and a Family Fun
Day following the actual parade on the Sunday.
John
Gooden, the Chairman of the 2007 Carnival Committee hopes that, "the
carnival will become a regular and popular event in the Redhill calendar."
Fran
Giles, the organiser for the 2009 Carnival aims to build on the
success of the 2007 event to make that hope a reality. "I
want everyone to enjoy the wonderful community spirit, whether by
taking part in the many events, volunteering to help or coming along
to enjoy the splendid blaze of colour, costume and celebration of
music that will be on display. There will be something for everyone
to enjoy!"
"My
vision is for everyone to have fun and foster a lasting spirit of
community which we can then continue to nurture to the carnival
planned in 2011!"
